Steve is an integrative counsellor and registered BACP member. He has over 30 years of experience working in the field with individuals and groups in the private and third sectors. Steve worked as a clinical manager supporting the wellbeing of over 70 therapists, as well as the manager of an addiction treatment centre and a lecturer in counselling and psychology.

Steve primarily works with anxiety, depression, anger, chronic shame, isolation, addictions, co-dependency, identity issues and relationship problems. Trained in both counselling and psychology, his approaches include person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-focused, inner child work, narrative therapy, and rational emotive behaviour therapy. He’s influenced by psychoanalysis and existential philosophy.

Steve’s main approach is relational and attachment based. He believes that we learn who we are in relationships, and when we struggle in our relationships it can impact everything else in our lives. This often stems from our childhood relationships and the environment we emotionally adapted to growing up. Steve creates a calm and supportive space where we can explore and regain a secure sense of ourselves, our relationships and belonging.

Talking Therapy

Talking therapies can help you work out how to deal with negative thoughts and feelings and make positive changes. They can help people who are feeling distressed by difficult events in their  lives as well as people with mental health problems. Talking about your thoughts and feelings can help you deal with times when you feel troubled about something. If you turn a worry in your mind it can grow. But talking about it can help you work out what is bothering you and why, and this is where talking  to a professional therapist can help.
